Mitchell has its roots in the heart of the Avre valley in Cluses, France. Maurice Jacquemin, a Carpano & Pons engineer, is regarded as the father of Mitchell reels as we see it today. The goal of his project was to invent a tool that would hold a large capacity of lines whilst cast lures with great precision and reel back the lines without tangling. And, so the legendary Mitchell 300 was born in 1948. This set the gears in motion for the latter productions of reels and several breakthrough innovations.
